Reply with quote | #3 | Congrats. to all. But wow.....? Remember this is not about the best 18 players on your side of the state. Its 18 great players that fit into a geographic area that spreads the wealth around. Its a subjective list made by people who don't even want you to know who they rank number one as a team the first week of the season much less the last and certainly not an individual.
All these kids have the numbers to back up where they are. We just see the intangibles more because we see them every weekend. Thel list makers only mess with them for 60 days.
Dont be to sad. Most of these girls will get a ride go to college and do ok. Cliched as it is thats really why they all about.
The end of year lists where you have to rely on a 6.0 from the Russian judge..... not to worry. They are not sport they are just opinion and we all know what we think about the opinions of most of these guys anyway. So be of good cheer and congrats again to all those on the list. __________________ |

Completly understand, but how Caney Valley's 1st base got left off is a suprise. 8 HR's and 33 RBI's as a senior, 22 HR's for her 4 years. __________________ We are the people our parents warned us about |

Reply with quote | #5 | I hear ya Lkyman....if Oklahoma is anything like KS, politics play a BIG role in the selections. I know of a certain young lady who played 3rd base for the Caney Valley, KS Bullpups. Here are her stats as a Freshman:
She played 133 innings at 3rd base, with only 3 errors. Led the team in Batting avg. with a .460 Led the team in Hits with 29. Led the team in RBI's w / 31. Led the team in HR's w/ 3 (Also led the league). Had 18 singles, 8 doubles and 17 walks. Scored 38 runs, had 5 stolen bases and 3 sacrifices. She struck out only once in 63 at bats.
Made honorable mention all league ?
I understand how the selections were made and I got P.O'd (I guess I should say embarrassed because of the system)but there's nothing I could do nor would I try to do to change the results.
However, It was VERY DISHEARTENING to the young lady who had left it all out on the field. |

She looked like she was enjoying herself when we saw her in september. Probably see her again in a couple of weeks on the 21st.
She is looking forward to her next 2 years with Coach Chance.

Reply with quote | #7 | Actually it is her little sister, who is a Sophomore this year! She is going up on the 21st also, prolly see you there. Big sis is really enjoying her last year at Butler, starting to mature a little bit ...which really saves on dad's grey hair !! For anybody else reading....Butler's hitting camp is the best $25 a hitter can spend. As far as I am concerned, Doug knows how to teach hitting !

Reply with quote | #8 | I'd like to congratulate all the girls that made all state. Wow! I don't know every player listed, but of the players I do know, they deserve the award! These young ladies have worked hard to achieve this. Congrats! |

Reply with quote | #9 | Don't the High School coaches nominate players from their school for All State? Maybe the complaints should go back to the high school coach. We could force the Open Records law and see who was nominated and how each coach voted. This would settle the politics.

Reply with quote | #11 | I am the mother of one of the girls that made this great list- - and I know our high school coach does not know how to play the political game. My daughter was the only Senior on her team this year and she is a 4 year starter and has worked hard for this recognition and has legit numbers to back her ability up!! Her goal was to work hard for a chance at All-State and to be able to go to college and play the game that she loves. Her goals have been accomplished, I just wanted to be able to continue to watch her play softball and not have to pay for it !! All our goals have been accomplished! It is sad that there are some very good athletes out there that did not make the list, but that does not mean they are not great softball players. They will still get to go on to college and play softball and have a great future ahead of them. I am like momof24, I do not know very many girls on this list but the ones that I do know are great girls on and off the field and CONGRATS to all of them !! |

Reply with quote | #12 | Congrats to all the girls on the list's and the girls that almost made the list.... First of all the coach has to nominate the player, then the coaches vote,, they all scratch each others backs,,,, Some more than others,,, I know for a FACT that they pad the girls stats, in some cases... they want their kids to get the recognition,, who doesnt? We all want our girls to do well, and we all want them to have all the recognition,,, but we are dealing with a topic, that is only partially in the girls hands..... Just Play Hard Girls... do the best you can aand it will all work out..... I have seen girls that only pitch, not bat not play another position get on as a Utility player.... wow! how does that happen,,, well maybe we dont know all the details... i have seen a girl awarded all-state as a left fielder, she had not played any outfield since she was in 5th grade... i guess them th grade stats were really amzing and carried her through?? lol surely there is a high school coach that frequents this forum and could share some light on how it really all works,,, this would keep people settled down a bit,,, maybe.... again, work hard girls and congrats to each and every one of you! |

Reply with quote | #14 | While you are considering all the possibilities, what do you think about this. An all-state pitcher who won a total of 9 games this season and less last season. How could that have happened? |
