God’s definition of success is really one of significance – the significant difference our lives can make in the lives of others. I would say Dave was a very successful man. If you've had anything to do with softball in Oklahoma, you probably knew or at least have heard of Dave Simmons. He always had some wisdom to share with coaches and players alike. Rest in peace Dave. Praying for Tommy and rest of the Eagles family. Troy, Aurora & Tori Danielson

We have only known Dave for a few months, since my daughter takes pitching lessons at The Eagles facility. He was always great to talk to before practice and you could tell he really cared about all the girls. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Didn't know him personally, but it sounds like he did tons for our softball community. We'll be praying for the family and friends.

Softball in Oklahoma is better because of him and will not be quite the same without him. It was an honor and privilege to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and team members. The Miller Family Randy, Gina, Erin, & Dre

Dave Simmons, you will be missed. Condolences to your family and Tulsa Eagles softball on behalf of myself and Tulsa Girls Softball Federation. You were truly a hero among us who gave so much to the softball world. Softball lost one of its best.

And do not forget. Mr. Dave was a US Army Vietnam Veteran.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Simmons family, the Eagles Organization, and all past and current players. Dave did great things for youth softball in Oklahoma, and has helped pave the way for the next generation of players to get an opportunity to achieve their dreams also. R.I.P.

We were with the Eagles for 4 years. Dave took us from one coast to the other to allow all coaches a chance to see our daughter, Sammi, play. We hope to see all our great friends that we created, while with the Eagles, at the funeral. The best times with Dave were the down times between games. To sit and talk softball with him and listen to his stories and his philosophy of the game.
I will be at the funeral with my Eagles shirt on! No need for dress up....support the team and the legacy of Dave Simmons. GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN! RIP DAVE! P4D __________________ Humility is the embarrassment you feel when you tell people how wonderful you are.

I can't begin to tell you all what this man has meant and means to our family. He has been in my daughters life since she was 9 and the many memories of him are flooding her heart and ours as we speak. To his curent girls he is Darlin Dave. His rough demeaner on the field was nothing compared to his "teddy bear" personality off the field. He was a dream giver and one thing I can never do is say thank you enough!
He demanded and expected from my daughter, and every Eagle, to work hard and for him they would do it without hesitation. He then would work just as hard for them. If you have ever talked to Dave about all of his Eagles you always knew how very proud he was of each and every one. Just this season alone he had 17 Eagles in the NCAA Super Regionals and 4 in the NCAA World Series. When my daughter sets foot on the field for her very first Division 1/Pac 12 ball game this fall she will be wearing her P4D (Play for Dave) wristband and she will once again play for Dave and I know without a doubt he will be right there with her, patting her on the shoulder, telling her she better get on base that he needed her with a big grin on his face and his "little guns" on his hips. Darlin Dave we will play this season like every other season...we will Play 4 Dave! We love you, we already miss you more than words can say, we are praying for your sweet wife, your family and for every girl that bears the name Tulsa Eagle across her chest both past and present! Tom, Amber and Eryn Tulsa Eagles Gold 2012 Go Utes! 2012-and on For those wanting to pay their respects please watch here on greencountry. As soon as we have the funeral information we will post. If you have a facebook find Dave and post your memories of him there too. So many already have and it is helping his current girls cope. And to coach Tommy, we are all here for you too! Love you!!
