Attached you will find Brackets and Pools for this weekend's action in Owasso (May 16-17). I backed up the start time for the Friday pools to give everyone a little extra time to get home and to the fields. Everyone will play at 7 p.m. and then will play at 8:10. Bracket play on Saturday will start at 9 a.m.

Make sure you bring your entry fee, NAFA registration number (or $30 and application) and roster to check-in.

Any questions, let me know. I will also be hosting the tournament so I'll be around all weekend.

Thanks
Chris Greer

Thanks also to all eight of the 10U teams that showed up for the qualifier this weekend. Saw some really great ball and a few "wow" plays.

Order of finish was:
1) WCC Angels
2) Owasso Heat
3) Lil Haymakers
4) Supergirls

Hope to see some of you next week (now that you've qualified) in Owasso for the first 10U REC NAFA Oklahoma State Championship.

Another good weekend of 10U REC ball in Owasso in the qualifier. This weekend (May 23-25) is shaping up to be another solid one with a state championship on the line.

As of this morning, this is who is officially in:
1. Owasso Tigers (finished 2nd in May 2-4 qualifier)
2. Oklahoma Aces (finished 5th in May 2-4 qualifier)
3. Collinsville Outlaws (finished 5th in May 2-4 qualifier)
4. Oklahoma Thunder (finished 1st in May 2-4 qualifier)
5. Owasso Heat (finished 2nd in May 16-18 qualifier)
6. Supergirls (finished 5th in May 16-18 qualifier)

While I've heard from many others saying they are in (especially this weekend), please officially confirm you are playing .... today if possible. We'll start pool play on Friday and I should have brackets/pool times by this Wednesday or Thursday.

These teams have qualified, but have not formally accepted:
7. Sand Springs Diamond Dolls
8. WCC Angels
9. Lil Haymakers
10. Tulsa Phoenix
11. Angels
12. Oklahoma Threat

I will have more details on the tournament this week, but having a headcount by today would really help with the planning.

Couple other things:
1) The 14U Owasso Crush will be hosting so everything will be top-notch. They know how to put on a great tournament.

2) Since I'm also the 10U Tournament Director (and head coach of the Owasso Tigers), I will have the Crush draw the pools just to eliminate any chance of anyone thinking I gave the Tigers a better draw. Not that anyone has ever said that ... at least to my face, but I just want everyone to have piece of mind.

3) I'm still waiting to hear if we are going to have a tournament program. If we do, I'll need a team photo from everyone. Right now I have team photos of: Tigers, Supergirls, Aces, Thunder and Outlaws.

Any questions, holler.

Should have brackets/pools by Wednesday. Heads up, we'll be playing with no drop-dead (pools or bracket) per NAFA and we'll be adding a fifth game (three pool games).

Still working on the brackets and pools. We have nine teams and that throws off the pool games so that we can get each team three (or two for that matter). Should have it figured out tonight. There will probably be one team that has to play a fourth pool game. If so it will be randomly drawn by the host team; not me.

Friday night we'll probably start around 6:30 p.m. and play 1:10 (finish the innings). Bracket play will be 1:20 (finish the inning). Can't play drop-dead in NAFA championship play.

We don't have enough teams to warrant a tournament program. But thanks to those of you who submitted.

Other things to keep in mind for this weekend:
1) You will need to bring a roster on Friday and it will have to match the one you previously turned in (either May 2 or May 16). There are no "pick-up" players.

2) We will give trophies as follows: 1st, 2nd and 3rd (team and individual trophies); 4th (team and individual medals); all girls (regardless of finish) will receive a participation medal following their final game.

3) Each team will be given three coach passes. If you have four coaches; one will need to pay. If you use the three passes on coaches, the team scorekeeper, manager, mascot, palm reader, masseuse and cheerleader will need to pay. Please, no leaving the park and giving passes to other "coaches." Not only is that bush, but the host team counts on gate money for fundraising. Think how you'd feel if it happened to you.

4) Each team can bring in a cooler to keep in the dugout with drinks, ice packs and perishables. Please let your parents know that they will not be allowed in the park with coolers or outside food.

5) Bring your check for $175 made out to "OGSA."

6) Ejections will be up to the umpires. Coaches, please set the right example and help us keep "overzealous" parents in reality-check mode. We had an ugly scene last Saturday and it's not cool especially around young kids. For the record, it didn't involve anyone associated with the 10&Unders.

Any questions let me know.

Attached are the rules and guidelines.

No rain and see you Friday.

Chris

Sorry it took so long. After the host team drew the pools and pool games, trying to make it work was ... lets just say I've built bird houses easier and I can't nail two boards together.

As I mentioned earlier, one team is going to play four pool games ... and that team ... again based on a blind draw is the Angels. Eat your Wheaties guys.

We'll start pool play on Friday at 6 p.m. with everyone playing except the Thunder (their first game is at 7:20 p.m.). Pool games will be 1:10 (finish the inning; see international tie-breaker rules). Bracket seeding will be based on finish in the Orange and Black pools. We will finish pool games on Saturday at 9 a.m. with everyone playing except the Outlaws. Shouldn't play into Sunday unless the weather causes us issues.

Bracket play will be 1:20 (finish the inning; see international tie-breaker rules) and will be double-elimination style. I couldn't push the Friday start times back any further without playing late on Friday and it would stink for the travel teams like Angels and Thunder.

Hope everyone can live with it, because without starting over with drawing pools and match-ups, this is the best we can do. And if we start over, I'm sure we'll have headaches, just different ones.

Thanks and see you Friday.
